We're lucky enough to have a pretty large 61-inch desk, and even with that it takes up nearly the entire length of it, leaving just enough room for our PC on the side. And while that is pretty obvious from the fact that it's a 49-inch ultrawide monitor, it doesn't hit until you take it out of its box to set up on your desk.

Not super confident it's the monitor's fault, I think it's more software related, but stranger things have happened. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is big. I run my desktop in HDR (+240hz, Displayport), but the monitor will detect it as non-HDR when the "flashing" occurs. Auto Dark Mode (on a fresh Win11 install) I've had issues with 2 applications where the screen will just randomly flash black, or turn black entirely. It's interesting to hear people talk about this "black screen" issue. Samsung really should be transparent and give a changelog. No immediate difference to me, then again I didn't seem to really have any issues before. Just updated, after battling thru the usual sensitivity to USB drives. I think I'm one of the lucky ones, I've generally not had issues with my monitor (there are some strange lazy pixels or similar, not even 100% sure, but I rarely notice them so they don't bother me). I don't recommend Samsung monitors to nobody. Worse, I would expect for it to not have those issues at all at launch. Happens a lot in some games when you have darker content mixed with bright content.įor the price I paid at launch for this crap, I would expect it to have been fixed now. Happens every time I game.It doesn't bother me that much because it's like for ~0.1s, but annoying nonetheless for a monitor this price.White background has some lines, but that I can ignore. Also the issue with local dimming and content making the screen flicker is present since release to this date. I have the blinking issue when using 240hz HDR and it's very consistent. It's one year since release and you still have issues. I would expect that a company like Samsung, especially for the price they ask for this monitor, would fix some issues like HDR and local dimming, which are critical for a monitor marketed as miniLED, in a more fast and concise way.

When installed the firmware will not "remember" the filename that was used, so you'll be able to upgrade without renaming 1005 to 1006 for example. For example if you want to downgrade 1013 to 1005, rename the 1005 file as if it was 1014 or more. To downgrade a firmware to an earlier version : rename the older firmware file as if it had a higher version number than the installed firmware. If anyone needs it, here are all firmwares since launch + an ICC profile I made with a calibration device: and you can find in an answer below my screen settings. I wonder if some people have a Neo G9 without the scanlines issues. I don't know the changelog, but I'll try it soon to see if this fixes the scanlines in more than 120Hz :
