Annotation appears with other geographic data in the ArcMap table of contents and is drawn according to its order however, annotation is different from simple point, line, and polygon features because each annotation feature stores information about how it is symbolized. The symbol collection defines the font, the size and also its appearance.Geodatabase annotation is added to ArcMap as you would add other data.
Each SymbolID value corresponds to a symbol collection, which are listed on the Annotation tab of the annotation feature class's properties in ArcCatalog. From the above mentioned fields, SymbolID is a very important field because this is what defines how the text/annotation is going to be displayed on the map.
